Uihlein, Garcia, Casey

Peter Uihlein and Sergio Garcia made a three-pointer in the second round of the Liv Golf Hong Kong on Saturday.

Uihlein ended his imbalance with a hawk, eight birdies and four bogeys, with Spain’s Garcia and first-round leader Paul Casey (66) in England’s first-round leader (66) at the Hong Kong Golf Club with under 11 strokes.

“I have four runner-ups, so it would be great to get the first win,” said Uihlein, the two-time international series champion. “I think the goal at the beginning of each year is to win. It’s also good to win the team, but individual wins will be great.”

Garcia has six birdies, and Casey added four birdies to Saturday’s bogey-free.

“I just watched Peter Uylin’s show today,” Casey said. “It’s really impressive. I’m glad I’m sitting here with the lead tied up. …If Pete hadn’t had a bogey today, he would have shot five ahead of the fire.”

Mito Pereira highlighted his star 64 on Saturday with the 10th hole in Liv Golf history. As part of his round, Chile’s second hole took the second hole of 149 yards and joined GC teammates Sebastián Muñoz (67) Colombia and Phil Mickelson (65) and ranked fourth with a fourth-place draw.

Mickelson gave seven birdies and two bogeys after Saturday’s heart. He hasn’t won a LIV event yet.

“[On Sunday] “I had to do seven birdies, no bogeys, and had a shot in winning this game. Minimizing the errors prevented me from making that many birdies, nor having to play a more relaxed play style. I should say less stress. That’s what I’m looking for.”

Thanks to Pereira and Munoz, the Torque GC reached the top of the rankings with a 25-shot advantage, having two strokes before Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII and Mickelson’s Hyflyers GC.

Crusher GC captain Bryson DeChambeau finished seventh in the tie with Spain’s Ram (64) on Saturday with a 67-shot tie.

In the second round, Dechambeau was the only player in the first five games of playing football at Hong Kong Golf Club, hitting every fairway in one round.
