TPC Scottsdale’s famous No. 16 Grillo card inserted in hole on TPC

Golf’s biggest gathering has reason to celebrate Friday.
Emiliano Grillo famously played 16 in the second round of the Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale.
The Argentinian stepped on the T-shirt and fired a shot into the cup from the 155-yard high. Grillo jumped out of the air, hugging and tall gamer Rafael Campos and his caddies, bursting out as thousands of caddies seats near the green stadium.
Grillo has become the 12th royal player since the Phoenix Open moved to TPC Scottsdale in 1987 and the first since the last round of Carlos Ortiz in 2022.
“It’s perfect. The perfect number, just a full shot, hit the wedge,” Grillo told the Golf Channel as he headed toward the green. “It’s a bit delayed reaction because we can’t see it really is good [155 yards]. It’s just that the crowd is crazy, so am I crazy.
Fans in the three-story stands packed with beer and other drinks delivered to the green. Championship officials spent several minutes cleaning up debris, raking the bed and checking for damage to the green, and lifting the next group.
It was Grillo’s second professional ace, and the other was the 13th hole of 2019 Open champion Royal Porthush.
