Thunderbirds’ Ellis is known as this week’s AHL player | theahl.com

Springfield, Massachusetts. …The American Hockey League announced today that Springfield Thunderbirds goalkeeper Colten Ellis Has been selected as Howies Hockey Tape/AHL Players of the Week During the period ending March 9, 2025.

In the week, he also agreed to an extension of his two-year contract with St. Louis Blues, who allowed only 97 goals in three games, with a goal speed of 2-0-0 with an average score of 0.72, saving a 0.979 percentage savings.

Ellis won the second knockout of the season Tuesday night, stopping all 32 shots in a 4-0 victory in Charlotte at Springfield. He was able to relax in Wednesday’s relief, 24 shots in 24 photos in 46 minutes of work, and then made 39 saves (including 19 in the third stage) that allowed the Thunderbirds to beat Providence 2-1 on Saturday.

The fourth-year pro has a record of 20-7-3, with the league-leading .928 saving Springfield’s 32 appearances this season, his first full season in the AHL. He also ranked ninth in the league with an average of 2.36 goals and tied for second with 20 wins and fourth in total saves (956). Ellis is a 24-year-old who is the New Hampshire Department of Health who competed in 54 professional AHL games with Springfield, 28-19-5 at a 2.69 GAA, save percentage of .922 and was eliminated twice.

Ellis was St. Louis’ third round pick at the 2019 NHL Draft.
