Scottie Scheffler (hand) weighs in returning to Pebble Beach

World No. 1 Scotty Scheffler said Monday he has not yet determined whether he will be able to make his debut at next week’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Scheffler is recovering from surgery on his right hand following a Christmas Day accident. He was initially expected to miss three to four weeks.

Scheffler said he expected to make a decision “in the next few days to a week” whether [he’ll] Game next week.

“Just trying to make sure I’m back on track and recovering the right way,” Scheffler said after participating in media day festivities at this week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational. “I’m definitely eager to come back and excited to be back, but I’m not just rushing back just for the sake of rushing back.”

Scheffler was stabbed by broken glass while preparing Christmas dinner. He said Monday he was making homemade ravioli.

Scheffler, 28, underwent surgery to remove shards of glass from his hand.

He had hoped to return to last week’s American Express in La Cuneta, Calif., but decided he wasn’t ready and withdrew to “give [his] Injuries have more time to heal.

Scheffler noted that losing the use of his right hand affects other things besides golf.

“Sometimes you don’t realize how uncoordinated you are until you have to brush your teeth with your left hand,” Scheffler joked.

Scheffler won seven PGA Tour titles and Olympic gold last season in an outstanding campaign. He won the Masters and was named PGA Tour Player of the Year for the third consecutive time.
