Sam’s Club is selling its own golf balls. This is what we know

The ball appears to be a challenger for Costco – a major rival to the Sam Club in the wholesale buyer club space and its popular Kirkland signature golf line.
Costco made its debut in 2016 with a four-piece amino-covered Kirkland signature golf ball for $29.99. Retailers are unable to keep the ball on the shelves and consumers are reselling it as a massive markup on the secondary market.
The original “K-sig” eventually won a lawsuit from Titleist’s parent company Acushnet, who believes Kirkland Ball infringes on 10 patents in the Pro V1. The lawsuit eventually settled in court in 2018, and Costco briefly left the golf course until it returned in 2019.
Today, Kirkland’s balls are still cheap golfers looking for carbamate-covered balls for $15 per play, but the ball doesn’t have the same enthusiasm as the original model.
Now Costco’s rivals have entered the space with its new member Mark Golf ball. The balls were sold under the company’s home brand, which started selling gloves a few years ago.
On the Sam Club website, golf balls are sold for $27.98 before selling stocks (that’s Costco’s $2 cheap $2).
According to the list on the website, the ball has a “approximately 90” compression, bringing it into the same category as the Titleist Pro V1, Taylormade TP5, or Callaway Chrome Tour (note: not the “X” version of these balls). with higher compression).
The website also says the cover of the three-piece ball is made of “mixed uroalkane” which has an optimized dent pattern that can “produce powerful flights under strong wind conditions.”
Walmart did not immediately respond to a golf email asking for more information about the ball.
In recent years, Costco has also entered the golf club market with putters ($149.99), a set of wedges ($169.99 per third), a set of irons ($499.99) and a driver ($199.99).
We have to wait to see if Sam’s club plans to do so with its members’ trademark brands.
