Rickie Fowler quits Wm Phoenix due to illness

Rickie Fowler withdraws the Phoenix Open ahead of the second round on Friday due to illness, the PGA Tour said.

He scored 74 points in his first round at TPC Scottsdale on Thursday.

Fowler, 36, won six professional victories, including the 2019 WM Phoenix Open. He was also the runner-up in 2010 and 2016.

He was scheduled to play with Billy Horschel and Sahith Theegala on Thursday. They will be two now.

Wyndham Clark scored 7 shots on Thursday with a score of 64, leading the way in the first round.
