Report: Pirates are willing to provide Verdugo with about 8 mm of about 8 mm before signing PHAM

It is less than three weeks before the opening day. Alex Verdugo Stay unsigned. The former Dodgers, Red Sox and Yankee outfielder are among the high-profile names who have yet to reach a deal to reach a deal with the team in the upcoming season. He was tied with every Astronaut, Pirates and Angels during the offseason, although the first two clubs have since signed different corner outfielders. Pittsburgh Ink Tommy Pham Traded in a year of 4.25mm. Houston brings it Ben Gail Going back to a one-year, 1.2mm deal (only Gamel’s $200K signing bonus reportedly guarantees the deal).
It is not entirely clear what type of situation Vertongo has been looking for. The 29-year-old is probably looking for a major league deal, even in the downward phase of the offseason, but preferences about asking prices, locations, etc. are still unclear. Jon Heyman of the New York Post provided some context, but the report said the Pirates “float” the idea of signing Verdugo with “$8mm” before signing Pham.
It stressed that there was no indication that the $8mm offer was formally presented to Verdugo. Heyman’s report has not specified the time for the “floating” proposal. If it was early enough in the offseason, maybe Verdugo felt he had enough interest to erode, then the mark or at least other clubs showed interest at a similar rate.
It’s clear now that the opportunity for Pittsburgh is over and Pham is in trouble. Bucs have pham, Oneil Cruz and Bryan Reynolds Line up for outfield work. Pham can always push the role on the bench, but one of the reasons he suggested early in the camp that he chose to sign with the Pirates with other suitors was the greater chance of hitting the ball. It seems that the Pirates conveyed to Pham that he had enough time to play. Plus, since Pittsburgh’s salary amount is 88mm, it’s the lowest barrel mark relative to the rest of the league, but is consistent with Buccos’ last year’s level – ownership may be reluctant to put more dollars into the team.
At this point in the offseason, it’s hard to imagine Verdugo getting a 8mm price. Not many teams clearly need a corner outfield player, and many potential suitors have little room for budget. One reason Astros signed the console was because owner Jim Crane was reluctant to exceed the luxury tax for the second straight season. Gamel comes out at a cheap speed. Houston, based on the lineup, is less than $5mm from the CBT threshold. Royals have been seeking outfield additional bats, but their expected 132mm opening day payroll is the second highest in franchise history and is already nearly 20mm from last year’s trademark.
At this point, an established major league outfielder could be given a spring injury to stimulate a team to make a compelling offer to Ville Changgo. Guardian (Top Prospects Chase Delauter) and tiger (Parker Meadow,,,,, Matt VierlingBoth were injured in out-of-field games, but there was no sign of running in Verdugo. Yankees seem to be increasingly unlikely Giancarlo Stanton They still have a full outfield early in the season (Jasson Dominguez,,,,, Cody Bellinger,,,,, Judge Aaron,,,,, Trent Grisham), it seems to be the spending limit for owner Hal Steinbrenner. The ranger was injured (Wyatt Langford,,,,, Adolis Garcia), but their nature is short, Texas is similar to Houston’s luxury tax.
Verdugo went on Instagram earlier this week to post a highlight reel under the title “Proper Time”, a suitable description of where things seem to be. There will eventually be a chance, but for now, the 28-year-old (May 29) will have to wait for things.
