Nike unveiled at Caitlin Clark in New York City

Caitlin Clark marketing machine has been extended to enemy territory.

Nike launched its latest Clark billboard in Chicago this week at 157 Chicago Avenue. The billboard is 3.5 miles from Wintrust Arena, and is Angel Reese, a rival to Chicago Sky and Clark.

The placement of billboards occupied real estate in Rees City due to a controversial history among players, sparking reactions from fans on social media.

Many of Clark’s fans use the new billboard as a chance to simulate Reese.

Clark and Reese They have been connected to each other since they first met at the 2023 NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship. Reese mocked Clark at the end of that game when her LSU Tigers beat Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes to point her fingers in a taunt way, Remind her to get the ring.

This has caused anger from Clark’s fan base, including Bartstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, who called Reese “a piece of S —” in a widely circulated X post after Reese’s gesture in the championship game.

They brought competition to professionals this year. Their four games included a series of controversial blatant fouls against Clark by Rees and other Sky players. Reese tried to stop Clark’s head at his first WNBA meeting on June 1.

Diamond Deshields, one of Reese’s teammates, made a screenshot of his hate comment after knocking Clark to the floor at his last meeting on August 30.

Clark and Reese never acknowledged that there was a hatred between them. They only made respectful comments to the media. But fans are another story. Since the 2023 NCAA Championship, the two groups have been notorious for attacking each other and for two players on social media.

Reese said Clark fans threatened her with death threats and gave her a clear AI profile and gave it to her family.

“I think it’s really just a fan, her fans, Iowa fans, now Indiana fans, they actually rode for her, and I respect that. But sometimes it’s very disrespectful . I think there is a lot of racism when it comes to it. ” Reese said in the first episode of the podcast on September 5.

Now, Clark is winning the competition with her new billboard.

In April 2024, Caitlin Clark signed an eight-year, $28 million accreditation agreement with Nike. The deal includes an iconic shoe, the most profitable shoe in women’s basketball history.

The new billboard is a continuation of Nike’s advertising campaign, which launched its first Super Bowl ad in 27 years on Sunday.

The One-Minute “So Win” attraction is an all-female ad celebrating nine high-profile female athletes including Clark, Jordan Chile, Shakari Richardson, Juhao Watkins and Aya Wilson.

However, the movement has also attracted criticism. Critics quickly supported Nike with their company stance, supporting trans athletes in women’s sports.
