Chris Getz He was hired as executive vice president of White Sox/GM in August 2023, inheriting Pedro Grifol, the former longtime GM Rick Hahn manager. After sitting in the GM chair for about a year, his team made a record with a history of 2024 with a bad record of 28-89, Getz opened Grifol and installed it Grady Sizemore As interim manager for the rest of the activities. Managers occasionally ride to rebuild the years, prove themselves to be the soft factor, and keep their work when the team becomes good. Brandon Hyde of the Oriole did it. However, Grifol does not guarantee this level of faith.
Given a clean offseason slate to choose its own manager, Getz conducted an extensive search which included Will venable,,,,, Daniel DescalsoPhil Nevin, George Lombard,,,,, AJ EllisDonnie Ecker, Danny Lehmann, Clayton McCullough, Craig Albernaz, and many others who haven’t arrived in the media. Getz competed for several of these candidates from the Marlins. He finally chose Venable on October 29. Shortly after, McCullough took the Marlins show, while Nevin still landed with Chicago but served as a special assistant in their player development department.
Princeton-educated Venable became the 44th manager in White Sox history, taking over a team that had nowhere to go. Getz himself is Jerry Reinsdorf’s “I don’t have to interview beneficiaries of these people because I know all of their recruitment methods, which also makes Tony La Russa the manager in October 2020. So it’s always a relief to see White Sox do an extensive search like they do for Venable.
