Texas DPS identifies Lubbock woman and is working to identify man killed in wrong-way crash on I-27

According to reports, around 6:05 a.m. Sunday, Samantha Alwan, a 29-year-old woman from Lubbock who worked as a firefighter in Plainview, The crash reportedly occurred on Interstate 27 near County Road 5100 in northern Lubbock County.

But the driver of the second vehicle engulfed in flames was not immediately identified, according to officials.

Investigators believe a 2014 Ford Escape with an unidentified male driver was traveling southbound in the northbound lane of Interstate 27 when it collided head-on with a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Alwan traveling in the left northbound lane. Collide.

The Ford was on fire. Two drivers died on the spot from injuries sustained in the crash. There were no other passengers in either vehicle.
