There is a new CEO at LIV Golf this year, and despite his plans to make many changes, he shares one thing in common with his predecessors: making highly dubious, even outrageous claims about the upstart league.
Scott O’Neil, longtime sports business director, is officially from Greg Norman in January Take over CEO Job. There were rumours that Norman was ousted for months.
While Norman may be a key figure in Liv Golf’s creation, his demanding, aggressive style was thin during the years of PGA Tour.
Finally, the LIV-PGA Tour deal seems to be on the verge of the brink –

With Liv’s PGA Tour to end the dispute and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), many people think Norman is the wrong person to make peace.
PGA Tour star Rory McIlroy is a character who has been known several times in press conferences.
So when reports of Norman’s impending strike began to circulate last fall, many welcomed the news. After years of negotiations, perhaps new, less sulfuric acid CEO will help both parties reach a final agreement.
But if O’Neil’s comments made on Sunday at the Liv Golf Adelaide event prove this, the new CEO seems to be more like an old CEO than a Many people hope.
O’Neill spoke with David Feherty and others on Fox Sports’ Liv Broadcast on Saturday, and he gave up shock.
“You don’t have to look too far on our rankings to know outside of the Grand Slam, if you want to see the best players in the world, there’s only one place to see it,” O’Neal said. “That It’s in Lef.”
There is no doubt that Liv Golf has Some The best player in the world. Joaquin Niemann, who won this week’s Adelaide event, has no choice. Or Jon Rahm, who is Liv’s biggest member to date. Or popular U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau. Brooks Koepka is another former PGA Tour star who has won the pros since joining LIV. Australia’s Cameron Smith showed incredible hopes before joining LIV, including his own big win.
However, after these five players, Liv’s roster was seriously lacking in firepower. Several major winners of aging, such as Bubba Watson, Phil Mickelson, Patrick Reed, Dustin Johnson and Bubba Watson, are nowhere near as good as before. And only 54 players participated in the league, so there was little depth outside the top 20.
At the same time, it’s easy to say that the PGA Tour features most In addition to McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Hideki Matsuyama, Ludvig Aberg, Collin Morikawa, Collin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, Tom Kim and Jordan Spieth, there are only a few more.
There are also PGA Tour most Top players in professional competitions. There are about 140 players in the regular tour event in 2025, all of which can be said to match anyone other than the top Liv Golf players.
But one thing O’Neal said is indeed correct. Professional is the best place for golf fans to really see the best, no matter what kind of tour they play. The game becomes even stronger when all the top players in the PGA Tour and LIV compete in the same game. We have to wait to see if the final agreement between the PGA Tour and LIV can happen more often.
