Nationals put DJ HERZ on injured list

Nationals announced left-handed this morning DJ Hertz He was placed on the 15-day list of injuries because of his left elbow sprained his ulnar ligament. Herz was selected as Triple-A last Friday, but the option has been removed to support the Illinois major league position, presumably after testing it was found that the major league camp was injured.
Although the team has not announced a formal schedule or treatment plan, this is ominous harm. By definition, a sprain indicates some stretch/tear of the ligament. Most UCL sprains can cause Tommy John surgery or internal support surgery, both of which eliminate Hertz’s entire season. Andrew Golden of the Washington Post reported that Hertz experienced a dead arm throughout the camp and saw his pace drop this spring, which only further increased the level of attention.
Herz, 24, came to the national sent by the nationals Jeimer Candelario He made his major league debut in 2023 last summer and quickly showed that he had a place in the team’s long-term plan. After recording 3.89 ERA in 10 triple A matches, Herz started 19 games and scored a 88 2/3 MLB framework, struggling to reach the 4.16 average. The 2019 eighth round player gave his opponent an impressive 27.7% and fundamentally improved his orders in professional terms. During his minor league tenure, Hertz had more than 15% of his opponents during his minor league tenure, including 19% in Triple-A last year, but he cut it to 9.4% of the professional. This is just one percentage point north of the league average, which is accessible for anyone who may miss the Hertz level.
Even without any knowledge of the Dead Arm, a rough glance at Hertz’s spring statistics would suggest something was wrong. After strong production between the Triple-A and the Grand Slam last year, he won 10 hits and 9 runs on nine walks (7 gains) in the Grapefruit League matches. He faced only four of the 49 batsmen he snatched and produced two home runs.
Hulz has been selected as Triple-A Rochester, but is not yet in the Nationals’ immediate rotation program. Now, the question is whether he will consider their plans any time before the 2026 season. As Hertz is eliminated at least in the short term, Washington’s spin will appear Mackenzie Gore,,,,, Jake Irvin,,,,, Mitchell Parker There are also signers for offseason Michael Soroka and Trevor Williams (The latter re-signed a two-year contract with the Nats after spending 2023-24 seasons there). NATS chooses another free agent, former NPB left-handed Shinnosuke of Ogasawarahead to Rochester to start his career. They have the right ones, too Josia Gray And the highest prospect Cade Cavalli Both are making a comeback after Tommy John’s surgery to resolve his own UCL injury.
