Max Homa – “I’m getting better and better”, inspired by the jalen pain of the Hawks

La Joya, California – PGA Tour Golfer Max Homa finally felt comfortable holding the driver for months at last week’s WM Phoenix Open.
During the first two rounds, the Homa’s drive was mostly straighter and landed in the middle of the fairway at TPC Scottsdale. On the first round of the tough 11th hole, Homa had the highest ball speed, indicating that he had a free swing again.
“It was so weird last week, that was the best thing I was waving the golf club, it sounded crazy, but it was possible,” Homa said.
Somehow, Homa missed a 36-hole cut of 5 shots, 76-69 in the first two rounds.
“At present, I’ve noticed golf, I’ve noticed that,” Homa said.
That’s where six-time PGA Tour winners enter this week’s Genesis Invitational Tournament. Once ranked fifth in the world’s official golf rankings and one of the most popular golfers on social media, Homa is looking for any form of silver lining for his form to transform.
Since ranking third in the Masters in April 2024, Homa has fallen into a cruel downturn, falling to No. 60 in the world.
“I know I’m getting better and better,” Homa said in a press conference on Tuesday. “I think I know what I’m doing is right. It’s hard to continue to see bad things,” Homa said. [results]but I actually hit the ball last week and I missed five layoffs. ”
Homa has almost changed after failing to win the Tour for the first time last season since 2020. He finished the top 10 in 22 games and failed to advance to the Atlanta Tour in 2024.
Homa, 34, split with long swing coach Mark Blackburn and introduced John Scott, director of teaching at the Potomac Congress Country Club in Maryland Rattan). After more than a decade using the Titleist club, Homa also turned to the Cobra Puma Golf in the offseason.
So far, at least in terms of scoring, the results have not been good. He pulled out 5 of 77 in the first round of the Farmers Insurance Open under the Hawaiian Sentinels, after finishing No. 26 in Game 19 under the Sentinels. Homa then tied for 53rd place at 6th in AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
HOMA ranked 149th in strokes: Total (-.889), close to (-1.209) and 120th (-.203).
“I think I know what I can,” Homa said. “Secondly, I know I’m very hard on these things. I’ve been through such a bad situation before it turned out to be.”
After the 2015 season, Homa lost his PGA Tour card and had to return to the Web.com Tour. After receiving the card, he made only two layoffs in 17 games in 2017 and made $18,008. He ranks in the top 1,000 in the world.
After missing out on Phoenix cuts, Homa found inspiration from Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, who said he moved from losing his starting job at Alabama to Russia Klahoma State then won the Kansas City Chiefs honors in the 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. Super Bowl Lix on Sunday.
“I have a purpose before everyone has an opinion,” Hurtes once said. “It has nothing to do with other people.”
“It bothers me,” Homa said. “I don’t know I’ve never heard of it, but like I did two days ago, it made me realize, but the scores are looking outward, just like last week’s No one makes sense like my little thing, you will never think we have made progress.
“This year looks like another red X. I think that’s going to be like a major stepping stone and we’ll all look back.”
