LPGA cancels Palos Verdes event over payment

The LPGA canceled the Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship near Los Angeles after the tournament’s underwriters failed to pay for the 2024 and 2025 tournaments.

The LPGA said in a statement on Friday that the cancellation was unavoidable because the underwriters failed to meet “any portion of their payment obligations.”

The tour said it would work with the Hall of Fame tournament host’s championship partners Fir Hills and Pak to explore other options.

Interim LPGA Commissioner Liz Moore said, “We remain committed to returning this event to our schedule to honor the incredible legacy of Seri Pak, which has been a great addition to the game and this event. ambassador.”

Pak, a native of South Korea, competed on the LPGA Tour from 1996 to 2016 and won 25 events, including five majors. She was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2007.
