Leylah Fernandez partners first offer free youth tennis programs to Miami

Now Fernandez gives back to South Florida tennis fans and gives them the ability to get into the game.

Leylah Fernandez A nonprofit with her family Leylah Annie & Family Foundation,and First serve Miami Launch a new community tennis initiative for unserved young people.
The show will be announced at the Miami Open celebration and will begin this summer at Buccaneer Park in Miami Gardens and provide free tennis teaching, mentoring and academic abundance for children aged 5 to 18.
“This partnership really means a lot to me because it brings together two things that I’m very passionate about – giving back to the community and sharing the love of tennis,” said Fernandez, who lives in Miami. “Together, we will help empower local youth by giving them tools to grow on and off the court.”
2021 U.S. Open finalist Fernandez has been training in South Florida for many years and has conducted clinics in the area in the past.
The program will combine “Leylah Annie & Family Foundation’s mission to enhance the community through Sport, first serving Miami’s long-standing commitment to providing tennis, life skills and educational opportunities for Miami-area youth.” The after-school course will “focus on role development, leadership, teamwork and academic achievement and Miami’s first service,” said in a statement.
“Serving Miami first is delighted to join forces with Leylah Annie & Family Foundation to have a lasting impact on the youth in Miami.” Angie Rivera, the first executive director serving Miami. “Our shared vision will help these young people the tools they need to succeed in every area of their lives.”
The partnership was officially announced at Miami’s fundraising lunch at Hard Rock Stadium. This year’s theme is “Serving Tennis through Programs, Parks and Partnerships,” highlighting the efforts of the tennis community to continuously expand access to and equitable efforts of the sport.
