Latest news about Erik Swanson – MLB Trade Rumors

Blue Jays’ rescuer Erik Swanson As Jays announced yesterday to Keegan Matheson of MLB.com and other journalists, he is dealing with median nerve entrainment in his throwing arm. Swanson received footage from Coco to fix the issue and would not be thrown for a few days when the shooting took effect.
The setback seems to be enough to put Swanson on the injured roster at the start of the season, which is related to last week’s report on his elbow throwing discomfort. The MRI resumes cleaning without any signs of structural damage, so Swanson at least avoids any long-term elbow problems.
Median nerve entrainment (related to carpal tunnel syndrome) is not a minor issue, as there is no set recovery schedule for neurological problems. On the plus side, Swanson could miss any lot of time even until the right-hander starts throwing again.
Swanson won the excellence from the Mariners in the 2022-2023 offseason, and his first year in Toronto was outstanding, but the injury caused a difficult start to his 2024 campaign. Swanson handled some of the tightness of the forearm during last spring training, and the subsequent IL delayed the start of the season before he struggled so hard in the first 18 games that he was sent to Triple-A. After the All-Star break, Swanson returned to the majors and then looked like his old self, making some pretty obvious splits – 9.20 ERA in 14 2/3 innings in the first half and 2.55 ERA in 24 2/3 frames in the second half.
Given the bleak state of Toronto bullpen last season, the Blue Jays desperately needed Swanson to stay healthy and fully bounced back to his past as someone who was a key setup.
