JR Smith shared golf advice which helped him

Surprisingly, two-time NBA championship and ultimately sixth man JR Smith is a college golfer and a professional player.
Golf: You didn’t start playing golf until you became an adult, but said you were immediately addicted to the game. Do you love it so much?
JR Smith: Golf is the perfect combination of challenge and chill. It pushes you mentally and physically, but it’s one of the easiest things you can do, especially when you play green with friends. I love that every day in the course is different and you will never compete in the same round twice. As the sport continues to evolve, the atmosphere is unparalleled – you and your friends are there, absorbing the sun, shooting, and enjoying life. It’s completely different from basketball, but it’s still competitive, and that’s what attracts me.
G: What are the best and worst parts of the game right now?
JS: Now, the best part of my game is my iron. The worst part of my game is my driver.
G: Who – or what – are you looking for swing advice?
JS: For advice, I went to my swing coach. [Top 100 Teacher] Jason Baile, from Jupiter Hills.
G: What golf suggestions do you really help in the course?
JS: Best advice? Stay patient. Golf is one of them, and if you try to force things, it will be humble very quickly. You have to trust your swing, focus on the basics, and then let the game come to you. Because at the end of the day, what is exercise and there is no fun along the way?
G: Who is your favorite NBA professional?
JS: Stephen [Curry]Chris Paul and Kyle Korver.
G: Who is the best golfer you have ever been and how impressed with them?
JS: Rory McIlroy, because of how far he hits and how accurate he is.
G: What is the best way you find to break the ice in a class with strangers?
JS: The key is to keep it light. Golf can be daunting, but once you get past the first shot, you can have a great time.
G: You are a partner of Gao Wu, a beverage company. What is your favorite drink in the course?
JS: Oh, it’s easy. This is Peach High School Vodka Ice Tea. Having a high point in your hand makes everything better when you are in the sun and under the little bird.
G: After retiring from the NBA, you entered North Carolina A&T, earned a college degree, and joined the golf team at 36. You are a senior this year. Do you miss college golf the most?
