A woman was hospitalized after being stabbed by a scorpion at Boston International Airport on Sunday night.
The Massachusetts State Police Department said the 40-year-old woman was stabbed when she retrieved her luggage in a customs baggage claim area around 7:30 pm.
The name has not been released and was taken to a local hospital. There is no immediate news about her condition.
It is not clear where the scorpion originated or how it loosened at the airport.
National Geographic notes that scorpions are often considered desert residents, but they also live in Brazilian forests, British Columbia, North Carolina, and even the Himalayas. According to the San Diego Zoo, their venom may have as many as 45 different toxins.
