‘James Bond’ star reveals reaction to King Charles’ visit to film set

King Charles’ appearance on the set of No Time to Die elicited all sorts of surprising responses.
Ralph Fiennes has revealed the “range” of cast and crew reactions to news of King Charles’ visit in 2019.
“When members of the royal family visit a movie set, the atmosphere changes,” Fiennes tells People. “Even if they’re not literally buttoned up, there may be some buttons left on the inside.”
“Royalties can cause all sorts of reactions,” he added. “People will say, ‘Oh my God! The Prince of Wales is coming. It’s so painful.'” To others, [it’s like]”Did you see him?” What kind of person is he?

Fiennes, meanwhile, described his personal interactions with the “warm” and “charming meeting” with the British king as “easy”.
King Charles famously attended the London premiere of No Time to Die, which was also attended by Queen Camilla, Prince William and Duchess Kate.

No Time to Die is Daniel Craig’s fifth and final interpretation of James Bond. After playing the same fictional character for 15 years, Craig has “no plans” for what’s next.

Craig grew up wanting to play a beloved spy, but had no idea his dream would come true.
He compared the idea of one day playing Bond to portraying “Batman and Spider-Man, but you can’t play them all,” Craig said. “I wanted to be all of those things. But when I was actually performing, it didn’t enter my mind. I thought that was the last thing that ever happened to me.”

While the next James Bond has yet to be chosen, many are already the subject of fan-fueled rumors. Idris Elba has been involved in behind-closed-doors talks for some time, but they were eventually canceled due to public reaction.
“…being asked to play James Bond was like, ‘Okay, you’ve hit your peak,'” Elba said during a 2023 appearance on the “Smartless” podcast.

“Essentially, every corner of the world – except for some corners that we won’t talk about – is very happy that I’m being considered,” he added. “People who are not happy with the idea make the whole thing disgusting and offensive because it becomes a racial issue. It becomes nonsense, and I bear the brunt of it.”
