On Thursday afternoon, at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Joe Lacava will step onto a bag on the shoulders of a bag, and the first, the second question will follow this simple behavior.
Which Joe Lacava?
Yes, on Thursday and Friday at the API, the group on the day will belong to Patrick Cantlay and Joe Highsmith for at least one New York metropolitan community. But, more specifically, the group of the day will belong to the players’ caddies, Joe Lacava III and his son Joe IV, who will share their afternoon walks for the first time in the PGA Tour profession.
You probably already know about Lacavas. Joe’s older age is one of the most decorated circlers in the game, a nonsenseless man in Newtown, Connecticut, who raised golf with the Fred Couples and eventually spent a decade on Tiger Woods’ bags, an effort that reached its highest sense in the 2019 Masters with Woods’ victory. Lacava left Woods’ bag in 2023 for a more regular cycle with Patrick Cantlay, where he stayed today. Big Joe is a hard-working New York Giants fan, an easy place in many games – his home country blue and red pops out of the outfit under his caddie’s bib.
However, Lacava IV is a new addition to professional gaming. Little Joe joined his friend Joe Highsmith’s bag in early 2025 and rode with the first PGA Tour at last week’s Cognitive Classic. A keen golf fan will recognize his name: Joe IV is arguably the most famous agent in the world for caddy in the past few years, serving as Charlie Woods’ caddie in the annual PNC Championship.
Young Lacava’s small ball journey follows a nonlinear path. He spent four years at James Madison University, where he graduated with a marketing degree and debated his career in insurance. Despite this, golf was on the phone, so Joe IV stepped on his winged feet, where he spent several years in the club’s caddie program. During that time, he was still on the track of a handful of young golfers, including Gosmith, who eventually invited Lacava IV to start the ’25 season.
Lacava Sr. said: “A little like Fred SI On the weekend. “I worked on the West Coast for four weeks and Fred never really told me if I had a job. “See Ya in Florida,” he said after Los Angeles. ”
When Highsmith won 64 to win the Classic for the second day in a row last weekend, Lacava IV knew his life had changed, too. The victory not only locked in the year-on-year salary of young Lacava, but also secured the iconic game form of Highsmith for the rest of the 2025 season. The iconic identity will put the 20s on the track of the game’s highest game and be closer to his father.
After the victory, Highsmith and Lacava made a short journey from West Palm to Bay Hill, where they started a crash course in this week’s new challenge. Shortly after they arrived, though, a second message followed: the pair will be with friendly face Patrick Cantlay and his caddie, Joe Sr. Joe Sr.
The father and son will be placed together on their bags on Thursday afternoon at Bay Hill, starting at 1:30 pm ET, and you can bet that the rest of the Lacava family will be closely watching. For Lacava Sr., this round will be an opportunity to spend valuable time on the ropes with his son, but for Lacava Jr. Greater chance: The opportunity to build family passion into your own career.
“He’s a great caddie,” Gauss Smith said after winning on the gears. “He’s really good at his job, but he’s just one of the boys, we had a great time there and he just kept it easy.”
Lacava IV hopes to keep up with good times Thursday afternoon at Arnold Palmer and Friday morning again. Dad watched from close distance, it was not too difficult.
