Giancarlo Stanton to start the season on the injured roster

Yankees officially announced Giancarlo Stanton The season will not be available as the sls will be placed on the injured roster due to repeated elbows. Stanton received a PRP injection on both elbows and is expected to return to the team’s spring camp later this week after he handled unspecified personal matters in New York.
The news is not surprising, as Stanton did not wave the bat for five to six weeks due to the persistent soreness of his elbow. Two weeks ago, Stanton and the manager Aaron Boone The problem is described as similar to tennis elbow, and Stanton points out that some tendon injuries have occurred. While the surgery is not considered, surgery will naturally become an option (or inevitable) if the actual tendon is torn, which is why Stanton says he and the team are cautious about the way they get injured.
There is no timeline for Stanton’s recovery, but probably the end of April will represent the best of five All-Stars selections to make his 2025 debut. After PRP treatment, it takes some time to evaluate Stanton’s elbow, and if all goes well, he needs to start his usual upgrade routine after the lack of both spring training and even most of his offseason. Given Stanton’s long history of leg-related injuries, he needs some preparation time even if he will be a DH-only player this season.
Injuries have long hampered Stanton’s career, and kept from fully delivering on the whopping 13-year, $325MM contract he signed with the Marlins back in November 2014. There is still $96MM owed to Stanton in the final three guaranteed years of that deal, counting the $10MM, though the Yankees are only responsible for covering $66MM of that figure as per the terms of the trade that brought Stanton from Miami to New York in December 2017.
During his time at PinStripes, Stanton was highly productive (.241/.323/.483, 162 home runs in 2776 sets), and still could look like one of the baseball batsmen from time to time. But those hot stripes were hit by an extended downturn, and Stanton was unable to play a few times due to his injury.
Stanton missed about five weeks in about five weeks due to hamstring fatigue in the 2024 season, despite a pretty good rebound from the 2023 year of decline. Stanton hit .233/.298/.475 last season with 459 PA, which translates to 116 WRC+ average and average and previous game numbers, which is still a one to watch out for. Then, in the New York playoff game, Slugger promoted his game in October, reaching .273/.339/.709 in 62 PA and over 62 PA, he earned the ALCS MVP honors for eliminating the Guardians in five games with the Yankees.
Following the playoffs, another major injury is no doubt about Stanton’s 16th major league campaign (and his 35-year-old season), which is frustrating for Stanton. The fact that these elbow problems are a whole new injury to Stanton can be observed in one of two ways – either because he no longer deals with leg issues or the negative ones Stanton is now dealing with elbow problems, a constant focus on his lower body.
With Stanton out, the Yankees may only choose to rotate the designated hitters in order to be in other veterans (e.g. Judge Aaron,,,,, Paul Goldschmidtor DJ Lemahieu. In terms of overall roster construction Benreis Now, there seems to be a better chance to get into the Opening Day squad and pick up some DH batsmen in person.
If Stanton is facing a long period of time on the IL, external supplements cannot be ruled out. Reports have shown that Yankees have been with JD Martinezperhaps laying the foundation for future contracts in case Stanton makes too much progress in a few weeks. However, adding famous veterans like Martinez could also potentially drive the Yankees more and more above the top luxury tax tires – Rosterresource expects New York tax number to be around 305.1mm, exceeding the 301mm fine threshold.
