Fox Sports Network to Broadcast LIV Golf Tournament to Begin Season

LIV Golf has struck a multi-year broadcast deal with Fox Sports, which will see each of the three rounds broadcast live in the United States on its online channels and streaming apps starting this season.

LIV Golf announced Thursday that more than half of its 14 events will be broadcast live on Fox or FS1, while some events will be broadcast on FS2, Fox Business Network or Fox Sports App. The track said each round will be broadcast live on the Fox Sports app and LIV Golf+.

Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed, and it is unclear whether Fox Sports will pay rights fees to the Saudi-funded tour.

“We are excited to partner with Fox Sports, one of the most preeminent broadcast networks in the world,” said Scott O’Neil, LIV Golf’s new CEO, in a statement. “LIV Golf is getting bigger and better. Bold, this relationship marks the next phase of growth as our league joins the ranks of the nation’s top sports leagues and conferences.

“I want to thank the Fox Sports team for sharing with us their vision for the future of golf, a new model that redefines the experience of the sport. LIV Golf is attracting a younger, more active and more tech-savvy fan base, As our players and teams prepare for LIV Golf’s biggest season yet, this agreement will take our broadcasts to new heights.

O’Neill, a former Merlin Entertainments executive, was officially appointed as LIV Golf’s new chief executive on Wednesday. The circuit said former chief executive and commissioner Greg Norman will hand over day-to-day operations but will remain involved in an undisclosed role.

LIV’s third season will kick off at Riyadh Golf Club in Saudi Arabia from February 6-8, followed by Australia (February 14-16), Hong Kong (March 7-9) and Singapore (March 14-16).

The first LIV Golf Championship in the United States will be held from April 4 to 6 (one week before the Masters) at Trump National Doral Golf Club in Miami.

The deal with Fox Sports should increase the exposure of LIV Golf in the U.S., where the show struggled to gain ratings in its first two seasons on the CW network. According to Golfweek, fewer than 100,000 people watched Jon Rahm win the 2024 individual championship.

“Fox Sports is excited to broadcast the LIV Golf League and showcase the elite level of top athletes to a national audience,” Jordan Bazant, executive vice president of Fox Sports, said in a statement. “The addition of LIV Golf is a great fit. FOX Sports’ renowned portfolio of major events, world-class competition and premium sports coverage.”
