A child was hospitalized Saturday after being struck by a drone during a holiday drone show in Orlando, Florida.
According to FOX 35 in Orlando, the Orlando Fire Department said a 7-year-old boy was taken to the hospital with injuries sustained when a drone fell.
In a video posted online by X user MosquitoCoFl, hundreds of drones used for aerial light shows appear to fly into designated locations before several begin to fall from the sky before violently crashing to the ground.
One man can be heard telling children nearby: “Oh no! I don’t believe they’re going to fall.”

Wild geese also appeared on the water, flapping their wings in an attempt to avoid the chaotic scene.
City officials told the station that the holiday drone display was licensed by the FAA.
Nonetheless, after a drone show went awry, the city chose to cancel the second show that night at 8pm due to “technical difficulties.”

The FAA told Fox Digital News it will investigate the cause of the drone show malfunction.
“During a holiday drone show, several small drones collided and fell into the crowd. [Eola] The FAA said, “The incident occurred on a lake in Orlando, Florida. The incident occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. local time on Saturday, December 21.”
Drone arrays and light shows are subject to FAA regulations and typically require exemptions from regulations prohibiting the operation of more than one drone at a time, according to the agency.
For each drone show application, the FAA reviews things like the software that controls the drone, procedures for setting up safe and restricted areas to keep people a safe distance from the show, procedures if a drone fails and the aircraft is too far away. Additionally, the FAA will review how operators use geofencing to confine drones to limited areas and whether operators have enough personnel to conduct the show.
For the second year in a row, the city of Orlando is using Sky Elements Drones as its supplier to operate drones, the station reported.
Sky Elements Drones did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
In a statement to Fox 35, the supplier said: “Sky Elements Drones would like to express our sincere hope to those affected at the Lake Eola Show in Orlando on Saturday, December 21st that they will be able to fully and quickly Rehabilitation.
