Are classes cancelled due to bad weather? This is the latest in Augusta Regional School

Some students at the Augusta Regional School may not have to worry about attending classes on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service issued a wind consultation Wednesday from 4pm to 7pm with southwest winds of 15-25 mph and gusts up to 45 mph, with higher winds expected on the passing lines of gusts of showers and storms.

This keeps local schools on their custody. Here is what we know:

Is Aiken County Public School District closed?

The Aiken County School District said on its website that the wind speed forecast exceeded the threshold allowed by school buses, so students will move to distance learning on Wednesday. Employees should plan to start reporting to their work locations with a two-hour delay, and no buildings or offices are open by 10 a.m.

After-school extracurricular exercises, games and activities will be carried out as planned. There will be no Questzone.

Is Aiken Technical College closed?

Aiken Technical College said that through Facebook, they are closely monitoring local weather forecasts. As of Tuesday night, the college plans to continue its normal operation, including scheduled courses and laboratories.

Community members are encouraged to follow the guidance of their local emergency management officials’ travel on Wednesday. Those who cannot travel to or from campus safely should be with their coach (suitable for students) or supervisor (for employees) as soon as possible.

Is Augusta Technical College closed?

Is Augusta University closed?

Augusta University has not released information about (if any) changes.

Are Burke County Public Schools closed?

There is no information (if any) about the changes that are happening in Burke County schools.

Is the Columbia County School District closed?

Is the Richmond County school system closed?

The Richmond County School System noted on its website that Wednesday is a distance learning day due to unsafe driving conditions due to strong winds. All extracurricular activities are cancelled.

The teacher will communicate with students and family through platforms such as reminder or class Dojo, and provide tasks for young students in canvas or Seesaw. Student homework should be handed over to their teachers by midnight on Monday, March 10.

The district tentatively plans to resume normal operations on Thursday, but is closely monitoring the weather.

Is Aiken University of South Carolina closed?
