LPGA Tour imposes strict fines for slow play

The LPGA Tour is hitting slower, hoping to solve the problem that boils throughout the sport.

In a memo sent to players on Tuesday and obtained by multiple media outlets, the Tour said the player could barely be fined more than two strokes in the round because it took him too long to hit the ball.

According to the Golf Channel, the current policy of the LPGA Tour on slow play is that “the player in an inappropriate group may be punished if: , and/or b.

The memo sent to the player states that if the player makes 1 to 5 seconds in the allocated time, a one-time penalty can be evaluated if they give it a 6 to 15 seconds, and two penalty can be evaluated if they do Perform at 16 seconds or more.

“Finally,” responded by world No. 1 Nelly Korda when asked about her thoughts on Wednesday’s new policy.

“I’m very excited about it,” she told reporters. “I think that’s one of the things I just noticed on the tour is that we used to start from five hours, five hours to now only five and a half, It’s usually our rounds. I think implementing the harsh rules will be good for golf because they said at the meeting, it’s the end of the day [we’re an entertainment product]. If we spent a long time there, it wouldn’t be fun. ”

A tour spokesman said the new policy will begin next month’s Ford Championship.

Last week, PGA Tour executives said they will begin testing and implement changes designed to speed up the game later this season.
