Angels sign Travis Blankenhorn to deal with minor leagues

Angel signs infielder/outfielder Travis Blankenhorn According to his transaction tracker on MLB.com, a minor league deal was reached. The deal was signed on March 6, but it wasn’t obvious until today when he appeared on Angels’ lineup card, which was passed by Jeff Fletcher of Orange County Register, the journal said.
Blankenhorn, 28, has inconsistent performance. Broadly speaking, he performed well among minors. This led to several chances of the Grand Slam, which he couldn’t take advantage of. He appeared in each of the last five major league seasons, but not 40 plates in any of them. Overall, he hit .154/.230/.264 on 100 trips, scattered over the five seasons.
But his game has a large number of 3,445 minor league cards. In these cases, he has .256/.333/.456 hitting line and 114 WRC+. This includes 1,506 trips to Class III A from 2021 to 2024. During that time, Blankenhorn had 74 home runs with a walking rate of 10.3%, a .254/.343/.489 hit line and 113 WRC+.
As mentioned earlier, those powerful minor league numbers have led to many calls. Recently, he worked with Nats for a while in 2024, but reached .129 in 13 games. He stood out in the roster and was elected as a free agent in September. Defensively, the Blankenhos are mainly outfielders/first basemen at this stage. He has some experience in other infield positions before, but has not since 2022.
Halo Nolan Schanuel first Taylor Ward and Mike Trout It is expected to be in the wild corners and Jorge Soller General in the specified hitter slot. They have Ryan Noda,,,,, Niko Kavadas,,,,, Matthew Lugo and Gustavo Campero In a 40-man lineup. It’s a tough path for Blankenhorn to play time, but he can at least play some games and show himself, and show it to Angel’s decision makers as well as other club decision makers.
