Akshay Bhatia exits Valspar champion

Akshay Bhatia has withdrawn this week’s Valspar Championship from its Copperhead course at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida.

There is no reason for Batia to withdraw its troops.

The 23-year-old American tied for third in the 2025 Player Championship Sunday, behind ultimate winner Rory McIlroy, who beat JJ Spaun in a three-hole total playoff game on Monday.

The evacuation from Valspar Field could allow Bhatia to play six times in seven weeks. He will also sit down next week’s Texas Children’s Houston Open, but is expected to defend his Valais Rotexas Open title in the second week, just before the Masters on April 10.

Bhatia, a two-time PGA Tour winner, was the first to race in Augusta National, Chip & Putt National Finals before continuing on to the Masters. In 2014, he participated in Augusta for the first time.
