Padres Options Stephen Kolek, Connor Joe

The priests announced that they had chosen Stephen Kolek,,,,, Ron Marinaccio,,,,, Luis Campusano and Connor Joe Go to Triple-A El Paso. None of these players will start the season on the Major League Baseball roster.

Kolek’s downgrade is most notable as it basically finalizes the opening day rotation. Kyle Hart and Randy Vásquez Will open one year behind their respective fourth and fifth starters Dylan stops,,,,, Michael King and Nick Pivetta. (San Diego Union-Tribune’s Kevin Acee wrote earlier tonight that the team leaned in that direction.) Yu Darvish The season started on the injury roster as he struggled with elbow inflammation.

Kolek is the fifth draft pick in 2023 and spent last season in the Major League Baseball Bullpen. He released a 5.21 ERA in 46 2/3 innings. While Kolk had a 18.5% strikeout rate, he got the ground ball with a great 55.9% cut. He shows that Padres backed up him as a starter this spring. Kohler has a good campground, putting in 12 1/3 innings and a ground ball rate of 61.5%.

Obviously, that’s not enough to surpass Hart and Vásquez on the depth map. Southpaw Hart, 32, spent a 1.5mm free agent deal in South Korea last season. His four major league appearances were in the 2020 Red Sox. Vásquez is not very clear, Vásquez started 20 games a year ago, with ERA close to 5.00. He recorded seven strikeouts in eight innings this spring.

Padres Martin Maldonado Work as a backup receiver Elias Díaz. Assuming he stayed in the minor for at least 20 days, this would be the last year of choice for campus. For the previous prospects, it was a season of manufacturing or rest. Joe signed a $1mm free agent deal as the short side of the left field row with Jason Heyward. He has passed the depth map Brandon Rockridge Even if he hit .316/.469/.447 this spring. Lockridge is another right-click outfielder, a great runner who will provide more athleticism to Mike Shildt’s bench.
