Wildcard Bencic broke third-place Goff 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the penultimate match and arrived at the quarterfinals of India Wells today.
Gauff, who won 40 hobbies in the Deciders, lost the lead in the next game, lost and ultimately the game.

The serve is unstable, and the forehand has bothered Goff this season.

Gauff said her rise is less than five months old, and she said she hasn’t beaten herself in a slow start to 2025.

“Yes, I think she’s more nervous, so I think that’s the right time for her forehand,” Bencic told the media in Indian Wells. “Obviously, like, it’s hard to have one side at all because I feel like if someone isn’t too confident on one side, then the worse thing you can do is give them a rhythm.
“But yes, it’s an instinctive choice and definitely feels like a tactical thing, and I hope the scoring pressure will do some work in her way of thinking, which isn’t as confident and a little nervous.”
2023 U.S. Open champion Gauff celebrates her 21st birthday Thursday – a reminder that time is right around her as she works hard to improve.
Although Gauff has done a lot with the extreme western grip on her forehand, one of the problems in this match is that she tends to achieve too much forehand attitude and balance.
By contrast, Goff made excellent preparations on the backhand wing, usually entering that shot and using a larger muscle group that spins the hips and shoulders to really drive the ball.
Goff often puts her shoulders on her forehand early and brushes the ball.

Goff said she had shifted her grip a little, aiming to serve more actively.
“We changed a lot of things by serving,” Gough said. “I don’t want to go into detail about it, but yes, I mean, after the first day, and then after the second day, I went to the driving range.
“You know, I still think I can serve better. Obviously more consistent, but definitely want to be more aggressive about it. It’s one of the things I’ve started playing poorly, so it’s even more so, so just want to get it in.”
