Brooks Koepka says he plans to fulfill LIV Golf League contract

Five-time Major Champion Brooks Koepka delayed recent comments from Fred Coupers, who recently competed in the Liv Golf League and is hoping to return to the PGA Tour at a press conference in Singapore on Wednesday.
But Koepka didn’t quite squeeze him content with shotgun launching and hitting 54 holes on the off-track focused on team golf.
“I have a contractual obligation here and we’ll see what happens,” Kopka told reporters in Singapore. “I don’t know where I’m going, so I don’t know how everyone else is.”
It is said that Koepka’s contract is reportedly worth more than Liv Golf, which runs throughout the 2026 season. He left the PGA Tour in June 2022 for Liv Golf.
Earlier this month, the couple told Seattle Radio that Koepka “wanted to come back. I believe he really wanted to come back for the tour.”
“Yes, Fred texted me and I think those comments came out,” Koepka said. “I don’t know when sometime last week was. Yes, everyone seems to have their own opinions and no one asks me. I talked a lot with Fred, but we don’t have much detailed details about what happened.”
The PGA Tour and Saudi Arabia’s public investment funds have been negotiating potential unification for men’s professional golf. PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan, Player Director Tiger Woods and Adam Scott and PIF Governor Yasir al-Rumayyan will meet with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on February 20.
How the golf teams adapt to the sport in the future remains one of the biggest obstacles in negotiations, Scott said Tuesday.
“I think the biggest trouble is how we think of competitive golf at the highest level,” Scott said. “The product of LIV and the product of the PGA Tour work in very different ways. So I think the challenge is to figure out that this can be combined and really reunited, which everyone is shooting.
“We started with these two different aspects, so I think it’s hard to find a balance that everyone can accept. And it’s not possible in the end.”
Smash GC team captain Koepka is ranked 22nd in Liv Golf’s personal standings. His best result was seventh place in Adelaide, Australia on February 16.
Koepka won his third PGA championship in 2023 and is currently ranked 181st in the official world golf golf rankings as the player did not earn the world rankings for his LIV golf championship.
“Now, I’m just focusing on how I’m better, how I’m better in professional games, how this team wins, and then we’re going to figure out next year and how to perform better again,” Koepka said. “It’s the same thing. It’s just a cycle of spin. I have nothing. Others seem to know better than I do.”
