Round 4 T-shirt time
Twenty-year-old Aldrich Poitgieter, South Africa, entered Saturday’s third round with four mats after firing 61 shots.
But when Brian Campbell shot a bogey-free 64, Potgieter was unable to expand his lead in the third round to close the gap to enter the final round.
Potgieter was under 20 under par, Campbell was behind him for 19 points and Stephan Jaeger three shots back. Alex Smalley scored five in fourth place.
The long-bombing prodigy will hope to stick with his game plan at Vidanta Vallarta and get the final touch on his first professional PGA Tour.
Meanwhile, the 31-year-old Campbell will start his final round in the top five for the first time in his PGA Tour career. Campbell, a former star amateur in Illinois, spent eight years on the Korn Ferry Tour before regaining his card after finishing seventh in the rankings. He is only one round away from completing his storybook golf comeback.
