Youngkin supports federal workers in Virginia

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin appears to be keeping his promise to help federal workers find new jobs after government efficiency or cuts on their way.
Republican governors announced a new website to help them find jobs in the Virginia administration on Virginia Haas jobs.com.
“We care about you,” Yang Jin said at McLean’s Capital One Center. “And we have a support system to help you find the next huge opportunity.”

The new website is described as a “Federal Workers Support Resource Package.” Youngkin said the site is designed to help federal employees “experience job dislocation” to help federal employees transition.
“We have vacancies in the state government and they will find a link on our website and can find these opportunities as well,” Youngkin.
The site will connect people looking for employment to the source and region of work and indeed to the list on LinkedIn.
“Using resources can help you find a way to dream career,” I added, “In fact, I have extraordinary empathy for the fact that there are a lot of workers in Virginia today, and our federal workforce is experiencing real worker concerns. ,” Youngkin added.

Virginia Democrats pointed out that they believe Youngkin is supporting the president rather than defending the Virginians.
House Speaker Don Scott of D-Portsmouth called the site an “insult.”
“The glossy website and slogans cannot hide his political vote, and the Governor turns his voters out when he needs it most,” D-Fairfax’s Senate Majority Leader Scott A. Surovell said in a statement.
Youngkin has not denied that he supports the recent Doge layoffs, which he believes is essential.

“We have an inefficient federal government, and our government is addressing this challenge, taking root of waste, fraud and abuse and driving efficiency in our federal government,” he said, and “it has to happen.”
However, Youngkin does think that “the federal labor force here is not at fault here.”

“But the reality is that any CEO stepping into an organization with such deep financial challenges will have to make a difference,” he said.
According to a December 2024 Congressional report, Virginia is one of the largest federal employee population, the Congressional report. When you add commuters working in Washington, D.C. and Maryland, that number increases dramatically, to over 300,000.
