Why Riley Gaines wants to send a “Thank You” to Lia Thomas

This month will be the third anniversary of the infamous tie with Riley Gaines and Lia Thomas at the 2022 NCAA Women’s Swimming Championships.

At the time, Thomas (formerly Will Thomas) was called the next “civil rights idol” in sports by liberals, having sat down interviews with ESPN, NBC News and “Good Morning America.”

Gaines is an aspiring dentist who has to wait for his trophy until Thomas finishes with photo action.

In 2025, things are different.

After failing to qualify for the Paris Olympics, Thomas is the subject of multiple lawsuits against the NCAA, the Ivy League and the University of Pennsylvania, led by Gaines and other female swimmers who must share with Thomas. Pennsylvania has also been investigated for violations of the Department of Education’s headlines.

Gaines, now known as a sports civil rights icon by conservatives, proposed bills with her development in the Georgia legislature, the place where she ruled with Thomas in 2022.

Other states have also taken their own steps to prevent trans people from being included in women’s sports, and President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to ban the order nationwide. Data shows that most Americans are opposed to trans women and girls sports, and that issue has even affected voters in the 2024 election.

Gaines told Fox News digits, “I think we should send thank you letters to people like Will Thomas.

How Transgenderism in Sports Changes the 2024 elections and Fires National Counterculture

“Joe Biden, his administration and the Democrats have a lot of mistakes overall outside of sports…but it’s perfect visuals. It’s like the plot of South Park. …It paints pictures that many of us worry about for a while, but makes it a reality.”

one National export poll The U.S. regarding women commanded for the U.S. Legislative Action Committee found that 70% of moderate voters saw “Donald Trump opposes trans boys and men playing with girls, women’s sports, trans boys and men using girls and women’s bathrooms.” Additionally, 6% said this was the most important issue, while 44% said it was “very important.”

Trump has performed better than voting among women, especially young women.

Although Gaines wants to thank Thomas for her attention to the issue, she also feels sympathy for the athletes and even tries to express her sympathy for Thomas.

“I honestly don’t want to say it, but I apologized to reach out, like I feel like I need to explain myself, almost apologizing for my feelings because we conditionally think it’s painful, it’s exclusive, it’s exclusive, it’s not the position I have.”

“So, initially, I reached out and wanted to have a conversation to explain myself and expressed my apology for my own way.

Thomas did not respond to Fox News numbers’ request for comment.

Gaines might not apologize if Gaines and Thomas reconnected today. But even then, she still hopes to offer Thomas some probation.

“Of course, I’ll still be welcomed conversations, but it’s not an apology because I feel like I’m the way I do. It can certainly still be constructive and encourage Thomas to go to common sense,” she added. “But my voice doesn’t tremble. I’m not apologizing for anything.”

Other trans athletes have caused similar national controversy and political engagement since Thomas rose in 2022, including former San Jose State volleyball player Blaire Fleming and openly transgender track and field athlete Sadie Schreiner.

Although Gaines objected to the fact that these athletes were allowed to participate in sports with biological women, she regarded them as victims of sports in order to engage trans athletes in women’s sports.

“I also see them as victims. I do. They have become victims of the movement. Unfortunately, they have created uniquely and intentionally because they are lies rather than the perfect image of God. It’s a terrible message to anyone,” Gaines said.

Fleming was placed in the national spotlight in the fall after several opponents were sentenced to lawsuits accusing the school and teammates of seizing Fleming’s birth sex.

The situation prompted Trump to comment while running for the Fox News City Hall event in October.

Like Upenn and Thomas, SJSU is now under investigation by the Ministry of Education for its handling of Fleming.

Unlike Thomas, Fleming’s gender identity is a supposedly hidden secret because volleyball players have no known history of participating in men’s or boys’ sports. Thomas joined Upenn’s men’s team two years before transitioning to the women.

Schreiner became one of the first deaths to Trump’s recent order. After the NCAA changes, its gender eligibility policy is to prevent biological males from competing for Trump’s orders in women’s games, the Schreiner School of Rochester Polytechnic told Fox News numbers that athletes will not compete in future games.

Schreiner then beat a handful of teenage female opponents at the U.S. Open Masters Championship last weekend.

“I have my own ideas about the behavior of these people,” Gaines said. “I certainly believe there is a certain degree of narcissism. I believe that everyone else around these people has a certain right and a right to completely ignore it. But, ultimately, I believe they are victims, and this is a pathetic reality of the gender ideological movement.

“The gender ideology movement is destructive to everyone except for the people who make money from it. … It’s the biggest medical scandal ever in the world.”
