Why Marlee Matlin is ‘scared’ to accept Oscar from William Hurt

Matlin, 59, met Hurt, who died in 2022 at the age of 71, while filming the 1986 film Children of the Lesser God. Children of the Lesser God director Randa Haynes recalled seeing alleged bruises on Matlin’s body during filming.
“I could see them arguing, fighting,” she claimed. “I remember noticing a bruise at one point. But I didn’t know. No one felt they had the right to have a personal relationship, comment on it or ask questions.
