White House Blast Perkins COIE Law Firm Helps Resume Russian Scam After Challenging Trump Order

The White House said the lawsuit filed by a law firm is linked to the FBI’s Russian investigation during President Donald Trump’s first term – called a “Russian collusion scam” in the Conservatives – after a federal judge blocked the Trump administration from cutting off the company’s access to federal resources on Wednesday.
Perkins Coie, the company that hired the company responsible for writing the so-called “Steele Dossier” Regarding Trump’s alleged ties to Russia, the link was used to obtain a surveillance order against former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page and filed a motion in a federal court in Washington to demand a temporary restraining order Tuesday to prevent the Trump administration from revoking its access to federal resources.
U.S. Judge Beryl Howell approved the request Wednesday afternoon.
“The Trump administration is effectively eliminating federal waste, fraud and abuse,” White House spokesman Harrison Fields said in a statement to Fox News’ digital numbers Wednesday night. “It’s ridiculous that a billion-dollar law firm is suing the opportunity to retain its government benefits and handouts.”
Perkins Coie and Attorney General Pam Bondi’s chief of staff, Chad Mizelle, appeared before U.S. Judge Beryl Howell on Wednesday afternoon.
Dane Butswinkas, an attorney representing Perkins Coie, said about a quarter of the company’s revenue comes from clients with clients with government contracts and compared Trump’s orders to “waiting for a tsunami hitting the company.”
Additionally, Howell said Wednesday that the order “had a chill in my spine.”
Trump signed an executive order on March 6 that suspended security permits for Perkins COIE employees until further review of their access to sensitive information has been completed to determine whether it is aligned with national interests.
The order also attracted access to Perkins COIE employee-sensitive information facilities and restricted access to companies and government employees. The order also prevents the federal government from hiring Perkins COIE employees without specific authorization.

As a result, Perkins Coie’s lawsuit claims that the Trump administration’s executive order is an “insult to the Constitution and our adversarial judicial system”, which means that the company’s ability to represent customers is “under direct and imminent threats.”
Likewise, the lawsuit claims that the order violated due process because it failed to give Perkins Coie the opportunity to participate in the allegations included in the executive order.
“The order violates the core constitutional protections, including the rights to freedom of speech and due process, and undermines the rights of all clients to choose their own choice of consultants,” a Perkins COIE spokesperson said in a statement Tuesday. “We are forced to take this step to protect our company and protect the interests of our clients.”
Attorneys from states including California, Arizona, Massachusetts and Rhode Island provided Perkins Coie a friendly summary Wednesday, “emphasizing the base rule of law principles and freedom of speech claims that are controversial in this case.”
“Through official actions, the president attempts to exclude certain lawyers and certain opinions from the courts,” the Attorney General Coalition wrote in the summary. “This is a sinister message for lawyers nationwide: unless they raise positions or represent clients that are beneficial to the current government, their livelihoods may be threatened and their patriotism will be challenged.”
Perkins Coie represented Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee in the 2016 election and former President Joe Biden was the first to win after Trump challenged Biden’s 2020 election.
Marc Elias, the former chairman of the company’s political and legal practice, hired opposition research firm Fusion GPS to conduct opposition research on presidential candidate Trump in April 2016 on behalf of Trump’s rival Clinton and the Democratic National Committee.

Fusion GP then hired former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele, who wrote what was called “Steele Dossier”. The document released by BuzzFeed News in 2017 includes shocking and mostly unverified allegations, including details of Trump’s sexual intercourse with Russian prostitutes.

Trump repeatedly denied the allegations included in the archives, and he filed a lawsuit against Orbis Business Intelligence in September 2023. A judge filed a case against the case in February 2024.
Meanwhile, Trump said on Thursday that signing the executive order is a “honor.”
“What they did, it’s terrible,” Trump said. “It’s weaponization. You can say that weaponization against political opponents should never happen again.”
