NFL News: Eagles release leads Darius Slay’s wife to post heartbreaking tweets

The Philadelphia Eagles cut one of their major veterans during the Super Bowl Lix run last season, and his wife appears to be working on it.

Darius Slay is a six-time Pro Bowl cornerback, issued by team casualties. The Eagles reportedly saved $4.3 million to the cap using this move.

Slay has led the Hawks’ middle school for the past five seasons, which anchored the NFL’s best pass defense in 2024.

However, the main reason behind it is the joining of rookies Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper Dejean, who both have great NFL seasons.

So, as they quickly transition to professionals, Slay’s release makes sense in saving some money for future free agent moves.

Darius’s wife, Jennifer Slay, shared her response to the moves on social media.

Now, Darius Slay will look for his third NFL team after spending his first seven seasons with The Detroit Lions, where he earned three of six Pro Bowls.

In 14 games last season, Slay played 13 pass defenses, 49 tackles, an enforced turnover and a failed recovery.

According to CBS Sports, Slay hopes to play for another year, which usually means fighting for another Super Bowl ring.

As for teams that can provide competitors for killing, it makes sense to reunite Lions, considering that they can use help in secondary help. The Pittsburgh Steelers are also a team as defensive coordinator Teryl Austin spent some time at Slay in Detroit before this position.
