Saini shared that one of the “most overlooked challenges” of cancer recovery and chemotherapy is that it is “nearly impossible” for parents to talk to their families even after beating the disease.

“As chemotherapy and radiation worsen, inflammation and dryness in the mouth, even the simplest words become painful,” he said.
“This self-evident side effect not only affects their ability to communicate, but also causes emotional losses, leaving them feeling isolated from their homes in an already overwhelming battle.”
Prevent oral complications
According to SAINI, a weakened immune system will make patients more susceptible to complications such as chemical oral cavity.

Dentists recommend that cancer patients be consistent with routine dental examinations, especially address directly after the cancer is diagnosed, to address any issues that may worsen during treatment.

Saini urges cancer patients to use alcohol and colorful additives to avoid mouthwash and rinse because these chemicals can be harmful to the damaged immune system. They can also aggravate the sores and further inflammation.
Rinse and fix it with salt water
Saline flushing has been shown to be effective in treating chemotherapy and alleviating symptoms, Seni said.
Specifically, sea salt water provides a variety of minerals that can help heal the mouth, such as sodium, calcium, zinc, chromium and silicon, which Saini describes as “essentially balanced.”

“Sea salts usually work in a very natural way than any oral care product, and these minerals help these cells heal at a faster rate,” he noted.

Saini, who is also the chief scientific officer of H2ocean, a sea salt water washing company, mentioned the research found that sea salt has therapeutic effects on the oral cavity, minimizing dental complications and speeding up the recovery process.

Dr. Monique Gary, a breast oncologist and chief medical officer of California-based breast examination provider, agrees that a salt water rinse or salt and baking soda in water can help in water.
“Usually, I recommend that I rinse my patients with saline because it can produce more soothing effects,” she told Fox News Digital.

“Magic Mouthwash” is a particularly useful rinse, Gary said. It usually contains antihistamines and local anesthesia, and may include antacids, antibiotics and antifungal agents.

Gary also advises patients to avoid dehydration and use a soothing lip balm to prevent cleavage of lips.
Although dental care is critical to cancer recovery, there are no specialized dental professionals targeting cancer clinics, which can lead to delays in oral care interventions, according to SAINI.
