Tornadoes were spotted and photographed in Texas on Saturday as storms battered parts of the South.
Manville, Texas, Mayor Dan Davis told USA Today via email that a tornado in Brazoria County killed at least one person and injured many others.
A possible tornado moved through the area between Alvin and Liverpool, Texas, on Saturday afternoon, destroying several homes, the Storm Prediction Center cited preliminary reports.
In Montgomery County, mobile homes were damaged and roofs were ripped off. According to preliminary reports, a car was overturned by a tornado near Smith’s Point in Chambers County, possibly causing injuries.
Millions of people remained under tornado watches and warnings as of 9 p.m. (Central Time) Saturday, and earlier in the day the National Weather Service issued a rare “special hazardous conditions” warning.
