The WCPO said Vance posted on social media after condemning protesters, claiming they followed him and his 3-year-old daughter. Instead of ignoring the protesters, Vance talked to them: “Hopefully I can trade for them a few minutes of conversation and leave me alone.”
“It’s a conversation of respect, but if you’re chasing a part of a 3-year-old political protest, you’re – T-man.”
Popular stories:
The WCPO said dozens of people gathered on William Howard Taft Road in Walnut Hills, with many waving Ukrainian flags.
Ann Henry, a woman who plays videos of Vance interacting with protesters, claims Vance’s position is a fabrication of the incident. She said the group spontaneously passed when they headed to protests nearby, according to the WCPO.
The WCPO said the video showed protesters posed questions about the war in Ukraine and Russia.
“We think it’s in our best interests (our own people) and frankly, the Ukrainians stop the war,” Vance said.
Vance also confirmed that Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, which contradicted President Trump’s comments, saying that Ukraine had begun the war.
Protesters say the Ukrainians are being sold, and Vance disagreed.
“Just respect, madam, I don’t agree,” Vance said. “I think what we are doing is that we are actually forcing diplomatic reconciliation.”
WCPO has previously contacted Vance’s team to find out why the vice president was in Cincinnati this weekend, but they did not hear back.
