The acting director of the United States International Development Agency (USAID) told Congressional lawmakers Wednesday that his staff are preparing potential criminal referrals for those who abuse taxpayer funds used in foreign development programs.
The New York Times said Peter Marocco spoke while speaking with members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee at a closed-door meeting.
Internal review is in its early stages, but members of the Marocco team believe they have found an illegal activity model in the agency, a major component of the U.S. use to provide foreign aid.

Marocco was demolished by President Donald Trump, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) mission and told lawmakers that he was studying the contracts and grants grants granted by the agency.
Most of the funding provided by the United States Agency for International Development should promote stability and economic growth and provide humanitarian assistance in vulnerable areas.
On Wednesday, Supreme Court Denied the Trump administration’s order to prevent lower courts from paying nearly $2 billion to the government, paying international aid organizations and contractors for payments for previously completed projects.

“Mr. Maloko has exposed the waste that has occurred there very clearly and points to the ways in which many of these programs are intended to be irresponsible,” he said.
USAID is one of the first goals of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) led by Elon Musk, which is responsible for wasting wastes.
