Strictly Come Dancing star Dianne Buswell has called out a troll who sent her insulting messages about her skin, explaining that she receives derogatory comments on a daily basis.
On her Instagram Story, Dianne – who was eliminated from Strictly on Sunday evening with her partner, singer Max George – shared a screenshot of a message she recently received from someone on social media.
The troll began their message by sending the Australian professional dancer jibes about her ‘knees and feet’, before writing offensive comments about her skin.
‘Makeup does a good job because your skin is disgusting,’ the troll wrote.
They also extended the insults to Dianne’s family, stating: ‘And your family all have the same rat features in the face.’
Dianne wrote a response to the messages on her Instagram Story, pointing out that this week marks Anti-Bullying Week in the UK.
‘It’s Anti-Bullying Week! Think before you speak or type you never know what others are going through!’ Dianne, 31, said.
‘I receive loads of messages like this one daily! Lucky I can just brush it off. But for some people that’s not that case.’
Fans of the dancer expressed support for her on social media.
‘Some ppl are just disgusting I’m soo glad Dianne has thick skin,’ one person tweeted.
‘Dianne is absolutely beautiful and I hope she doesn’t let these keyboard warriors put her down.’
‘I’ve just seen Dianne’s story. What would make people send things like that?!’ another said.
‘It’s disgusting the lengths people go to get to someone.’
Last month, Dianne thanked her fans for their support after receiving cruel messages from trolls online.
On Wednesday morning, she shared a post on Instagram saying that while it’s been ‘a weird week not waking up and going to dance practice’, she feels ‘so grateful for every moment on the show during this crazy time’.
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on Saturday evening at 7.15pm.
