Spoilers: Sharon feud with Mel bubbles in EastEnders

Mel Owen (Tamzin Outhwaite) has been blackmailing Sharon Mitchell (Letitia Dean) in EastEnders as part of her plan to seek revenge on the Mitchells, and — with Sharon having jetted off to Portugal to sort out a villa at her request — it’s safe to assume her mission has proven fruitful thus far. However, Sharon returns in the coming episodes, and her feud with Mel reaches boiling point.

It’s been a few weeks since she left with Phil (Steve McFadden), but Sharon returns from Portugal in the coming episodes — but she’s alone. Upon her return, Louise (Tilly Keeper) excitedly informs her that she’s moving to Portugal with Keanu (Danny Walters) — and Sharon feigns surprise. In spite of his girlfriend’s positive attitude, Keanu’s not so thrilled and — once he’s alone with Sharon — he pleads with her to stop Louise. However, he simply receives a warning to play along with Mel.

Whether or not Sharon got the villa sorted remains to be seen, but Mel’s not finished her games just yet, as she offers Ruby (Louisa Lytton) first refusal to buy E20 — convincing the young woman that Sharon definitely will sell.

Later, Mel informs a confused Sharon about this conversation, and proceeds to threaten her once more. The question is: what does Mel’s threat entail this time?

Sharon knows Mel has her where she wants her, and she’s frustrated as a result — admitting to Ben (Max Bowden) that her decision to sell the club is down to Mel. However, Ben responds to her comments by revealing a secret — and it’s one that changes everything.

Although this secret has yet to be revealed, it’s clear that Sharon now has the leverage she needs, and thus she goes head-to-head with Mel later in the week.

What’s more, Mel’s plan soon begins to unravel — and she’s forced to go to desperate lengths, as she begins to lie to those around her in order to ensure she gets what she wants.

Does Sharon now have the upper hand?

Or will Mel — who’s proven how ruthless she is in the past — turn the tables on the Mitchell matriarch once more?

One to watch: Monday 28th October at 8pm on BBC One.
