Ever since Shona Ramsay (Julia Goulding) returned to Coronation Street following her treatment for her brain injury, David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) has been struggling to become accustomed to how different she is.
Her lack of memory is meaning they have to get to know each other once again and the symptoms from her injury mean she has fewer social boundaries, leading to her blurting out things or take reckless action that she doesn’t know is either bad etiquette or downright risky.
That said, the pair are slowly falling for one another again and are keen to make a go of things – but when Shona’s latest comments leave David dumbfounded, it’s more evidence that this will be easier said than done.
When Aaron announces he’s reducing his hours with Shona, David wonders how he’ll cope. Aaron encourages them to be upfront and honest with each other. But when Shona casually refers to David’s rape, David’s horrified.
When Shona gets upset David assures her that they’ll find the old Shona eventually.
Later, David finds Hugo taking pictures of the barber’s, threatening to put him out of business. Overhearing, Gary’s (Mikey North) ears prick up – as Ray Crosby (Mark Frost) has tasked him with trying to get David to sell up.
David tells Gary how he’s had an offer on the house from Ray’s property mate which would sort his financial problems, but he doesn’t want to uproot Shona and the kids.
Gary reckons he should take the money but see if he can rent the house back from her. When Ray reveals he plans to turf David out of the house Gary has a pang of guilt.
Shona assures David she’s not bothered if he sells the house so long as she’s with him.
David thanks Gary for his advice and reveals he’s spoken to Roxy and agreed to sell the house on condition she lease it back to him. Gary masks his guilt as Gail fumes.
David explains he’s selling the house to an investor who’s prepared to rent it back to them, the sink hole will be fixed and the kids won’t be uprooted. Gail’s unconvinced.
But with Shona his priority, will David lose everything?
