For weeks, cunning Mel Owen (Tamzin Outhwaite) has been hiding her true intentions towards Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) in plan sight in EastEnders as she works on taking revenge on him for his part on her son Hunter (Charlie Winter) being jailed. Acting as his friend by spending time with Amy and giving the impression that she has moved past the ugliness between the pair, Mel has managed to win back Jack’s trust.
But all the while, she has been doing everything she can to gain access to his financial accounts so that she can take everything from him. After getting Amy to lead her to the details she needs, Mel executes the next part of her plan in a double episode tonight – but she is in hot water when Rainie (Tanya Franks) interrupts her.
As Mel is preparing to make the transfer to her own account, will Rainie – who is seething at the kiss Mel shared with Max (Jake Wood) – realise what is going on and expose the truth? Or can Mel convince her that there is nothing untoward going on?
It remains to be seen whether Rainie will be Mel’s undoing but when Jack discovers the betrayal, he is bound to be gutted. Will it be too late when he finally clicks that Mel has been planning to rob him blind all this time? And might Mel have a change of mind as she discovers she isn’t as ruthless as she is trying to be?
Jack has other things on his mind tonight too as he continues to seethe at the fact that Tiffany Butcher’s (Maisie Smith) rapist continues to walk the streets as if he has done nothing wrong.
Despite promising his niece that he will let the matter drop, an angry Jack follows Fraser tonight with violent intent. But how far will he go?
And with a potential prison sentence and a result not to mention Mel’s act of revenge, is Jack’s life about to implode?
EastEnders airs on Tuesday 25th June at 7:30pm and 9pm on BBC One.
