Bond 25 filming was brought to a grinding halt after 007 himself Daniel Craig suffered an ankle injury on set.
But the secret agent is on the mend, according to his wife Rachel Weisz.
Rachel commented on her husband’s progress as she attended Comic Con over the weekend, where she joined Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh and David Harbour to hype up the Black Widow standalone movie.
When asked by Extra how Craig, 51, was recovering, the 49-year-old said: ‘He’s very well, thank you. Really well…He’s doing well.’
Back in May, filming for the as yet untitled 25th James Bond film was suspended after Craig fell awkwardly while filming scenes in Jamaica.
A source told The Sun at the time: ‘He was sprinting during filming when he slipped and fell quite awkwardly. He was in quite a lot of pain and was complaining about his ankle.
‘As you’d expect he was also pretty angry that it had happened. He threw his suit jacket on the ground in sheer frustration.’
It is believed that the actor tweaked the ligaments in his ankle, and was forced to undergo minor surgery, followed by two weeks of rehabilitation.
A statement read: ‘Daniel Craig will be undergoing minor ankle surgery resulting from an injury sustained during filming in Jamaica.
‘Production will continue whilst Craig is rehabilitating for two weeks post-surgery. The film remains on track for the same release date in April 2020.’
The injury was just one of the setbacks in a string of bad luck for Bond 25, which also stars Rami Malek, Lashana Lynch, Lea Seydoux, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris and Ana de Armas.
Director Danny Boyle dropped out of the project months after joining, to be replaced by Cary Fukunaga.
Then in June, filming went into lockdown after a ‘controlled explosion’ injured a crew member and caused damage to the set at Pinewood Studios – leading to a visit from Health and Safety.
And the hits just keep coming, as it’s been claimed Rami Malek and Daniel Craig can’t find any time to film their scenes together, as Malek – who plays the film’s villain – will have commenced a new project that clashes with Bond 25 now that certain shooting days have been pushed back.
Grace Jones’ cameo is also believed to have been axed after the music legend walked off set after realising how few lines she had.
Despite all the issues, producers are still adamant that Bond 25 will be set for release in April 2020.
