Peter Kay in rare sighting as he takes terminal cancer fan, 22, for lunch after 'bleak' diagnosis | The Sun

PETER Kay made a rare public outing when he took a pal and her terminally ill daughter to lunch.

The Phoenix Nights comedian, 49, – who recently thrilled fans with an appearance at a charity gig – was continuing his kind-hearted actions at a pub near Burnley.

Mum Nicola Nuttall, whose daughter Laura is battling stage four brain cancer, took to her Twitter page to show her thanks to fan-favourite Peter.

Peter has been largely out of the spotlight since a surprise appearance at a charity screening of his series Car Share in 2018.

He cancelled his last stand-up tour in December 2017, citing "unforeseen family circumstances".

Now Nicola – who has set up a fundraising page for her daughter to help secure potentially life-saving treatment in Germany – has told her followers: "Today’s joy has been a very special treat, the most wonderful lunch at @whiteswan_fence with #PeterKay for company.

"Laughter won’t cure #Glioblastoma but it’s definitely a blimmin’ good distraction for a couple of hours."

One of her followers asked: "How awesome is that. Just watched his show on BBC and he’s a comic genius. What’s he like in real life?"

The dedicated parent replied: "The nicest, most thoughtful and naturally hilarious person. Everything you’d hope he’d be.

"We’re lucky to have him as a friend x"

Another gushed: "They should prescribe Peter Kay…he was my next door neighbour for ages!! And that pub is AMAZING."

Nicola then agreed: "It really is, I bet Peter was a lovely neighbour to have x"

She had tagged the comedian in a hashtag, as he does not have Twitter.

Nicola's daughter was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a highly invasive cancer of the brain.

Following recent surgery, she is returning for radiotherapy as the cancer has sadly spread.

Meanwhile, after cancelling his comeback tour for "personal reasons" The Sun recently exclusively revealed Peter will soon be bringing it back to the stage.

He has put together a new stage show which he will perform next year at top venues.

It will be the first time in 14 years that Bolton-born Peter famed for hit TV shows Car Share, Phoenix Nights and Max and Paddy, has performed a live stand-up gig.

Organisers are confident the tour, including London’s O2 Arena and Manchester’s AO Arena, will be a sell-out.
