Munya Chawawa ‘cracks open the Shloer’ after signing to Atlantic records

He’s been keeping us laughing during lockdown and hitting out at the racist backlash to Sainsbury’s Christmas ad, now Munya Chawawa has revealed that he’s been signed to Atlantic records.

The viral comedy star announced the news on social media this evening, saying he’s ‘cracking open the Shloer’ to celebrate.

‘I’ve signed to Atlantic Records!’ he said, posting on Twitter.

‘Two years of sketches, one Fire in the Booth and a few middle class bars later and here we are! Thank you for supporting my parodies & sharing my sketches.’

Munya also posted a video of himself in character as comedy creation Unknown P, saying: ‘Anything is possible if you’re posh and from a middle class background.

‘You know it’s not easy being the UK’s first posh drill artist. I’m just a middle class roadman, living out my drilly fantasies.’

Munya has emerged as one of the viral stars of 2020, releasing sketches on everything from Black Lives Matter to Stormzy and Chip’s beef.

He first previously appeared in character as the middle class drill artist Unknown P on Radio 1xtra with Charlie Sloth back in 2019.

He previously told of his success: ‘It’s this bizarre disbelief, of having done something so good that people from all walks of life have recognised it and have acknowledged that it’s something that brings them joy.’
