Outlander fans are looking forward to the release of travel series Men in Kilts, which sees the two actors travel around Scotland. Express.co.uk recently exclusively spoke to the pair about their accompanying book Clanlands, how it came about and when the show will be released in the UK.
When is Men In Kilts out in the UK?
Men In Kilts is a spin-off travel series featuring two of Outlander’s biggest stars – Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish.
The series will see the pair reunite as they head off in a campervan all around Scotland.
Along the way they will be visiting unique locations, learning more about their heritage and trying to maintain their friendship.
So far, Starz has confirmed the show will air in the US in early 2021 but at the moment UK fans do not have a release date.
However, Heughan and McTavish recently opened up about what fans can expect in an interview with Express.co.uk.
This came as the duo were speaking about their experiences of writing their companion book Clanlands.
The book is out now and features their unique observations about their journey around the country as well as some great Outlander anecdotes.
But when asked about when fans on this side of the pond might be able to see Men In Kilts, the pair hinted at early 2021.
McTavish teased: “It is a show that celebrates the best in Scotland.
“Hopefully with some surprises and a lot of laughs along the way.
“Sam succeeds in taking me out of my comfort zone and I succeed in some surprising ways at enraging him too. Expect to see it early 2021.”
Heughan also revealed a bit more about the series and how excited he is for fans to finally see it.
He continued: “After creating, producing and financing the original shoot, I was so pleased STARZ and Sony decided to pick it up.
“Each episode covers a particular theme and, much like the book, we travel the country meeting special guests and learning about the Scottish culture with some questionable driving along the way…”

What does Clanlands reveal about Outlander? [INTERVIEW]
Sam Heughan: How did Outlander star find writing Clanlands? [VIDEO]
During our chat, Heughan also opened up about how the project came about, including how McTavish’s love of lattes played a part.
He explained: “I wanted to create a TV show about Scotland and its Highlanders, after seeing how popular they were on Outlander.
“I’d been developing a few ideas for TV shows and bought the rights to a few books but was looking for something more personal and closer to home, so I could film whilst on Outlander.
“The idea to collaborate came after a latte (him) and a beer (me) in Santa Monica.
“I began pulling a crew together and organising the shoot, then I naively thought we could
try writing an accompanying book, at the same time.
“We spoke to a number of publishers. I believe I was in Oregon at the time, skiing down Mount Hood, when it was finalised and we landed a deal with Hodder and Stoughton.
“The reality of actually having to write it then kicked in…”
The result is Clanlands, which teases what fans might be able to expect from Men In Kilts when it lands on screens.
And if it is anything to go by, the show will have plenty of laughs, some interesting history and a lot of heart from the two stars.
Clanlands was released on November 3 and is published by Hodder & Stoughton. Men In Kilts is out in early 2021.
