MAFS UK fans fume as Paul C Brunson ‘blames Duka’ before Whitney’s exit decision

Married at First Sight UK fans were fuming while watching Wednesday 21 September's episode.

The episode mostly consisted of commitment ceremonies, with troubled couple Duka and Whitney talking through their ups, but mostly their downs, over the week.

However, many fans were not happy with the way Paul C Brunson appeared to "blame" Duka for their problems. Paul raised the issue of Duka being vulnerable and emotional with Whitney to show him the real him.

"She needs to know how you’re feeling, because unless she knows how you’re feeling, you appear fake. I need you to show some emotion," he said firmly.

Whitney was quick to agree: "I think Paul hit the nail on the head. I can't connect to something that isn't real, that isn't genuine."

Paul also made an analysis of how Whitney was feeling towards the marriage, commenting: "I can see you have no fight in you."

While Duka decided to stay, saying he wanted to "have that chance to be vulnerable", it wasn't the case for Whitney.

Ahead of the decision to stay or leave, Whitney explained: "I don't know what else I can do. I still want to remain Whitney, and I don't know that I am anymore, I'm giving over but I don't know what's being given to me, so I wrote leave."

Fans took to Twitter to talk about their anger and frustration over Paul's treatment of the situation, claiming he was solely blaming Duka for the breakdown of the relationship rather than acknowledging Whitney's behaviour.

One complained Whitney was actually the one to blame: " #mafsuk ok…. are we missing great big chunks of what's really going on? Paul calling #duka out for coming across as fake – which is what #Whitney has been saying for 3 weeks & we all thought SHE was being awkward. This is way too heavily edited."

Another wrote: "I hate this solidarity that Paul is doing with Whitney because I do get what he saying about Duka’s lack of vulnerability but who want to be vulnerable when there with a hungry shark #MAFSUK."

While another accused Whitney of hypocrisy: "[Whitney] seems to think of the worst points about her own behaviour… then promptly accuse Duka of them… & as usual, the 'experts' just decide to act as if they've never clapped eyes on any of them before & just say whatever pops into their empty little heads at any given moment!"

"Paul pandering to Whitney’s antics makes me want to slap that accent off his face," another complained. "Both Whitney and Duka aren’t putting in work. This isn’t solely Duka’s fault. It’s more Whitney’s fault IMO #MAFSUK."

Another agreed: "I know Paul is the expert, but I don't know if I agree with his analysis of Duka. Are we the only ones seeing Whitney's stank atttitude or is it a bad edit? #MAFSUK."

Others called out Whitney's behaviour from the beginning, which had previously been the subject of Ofcom complaints.

"Whitney just doesn’t like Duka & hasn’t from first meeting… & his so-called fakeness & brave face is a protection thing… yet… apparently SHE’S the victim & Paul gave her an out there by ‘hitting the nail on the head’! #MAFSUK," wrote one.
