Love Island stars Will Young and Jessie Wynter have been given the boot just one day before the final.

The pair received the least amount of public votes and were told to pack their bags during Sunday's (March 12) penultimate episode.

However, before the shock dumping, Maya Jama appeared on ITV2 to promote what was coming up on spin-off show Aftersun and told viewers she'll be chatting to "dumped Islanders Will and Jessie".

Confused viewers rushed to their keyboards as Maya revealed who'd been axed before the dumping aired.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "Thanks @MayaJama for ruining the results, you gonna do the same in the final."

Another added: "Nice advert for #aftersun just before the results were shown"

A third person posted: "Not Aftersun spoiling the will and Jessie result during the ad break before."

While a fourth social media user said: "Not After Sun spoiling the eviction results in the ad break"

In the villa, the group received a text message which read: "Can all Islanders please gather around the fire pit immediately.”

As revealed last week, the three vulnerable couples at risk of being dumped from the Island were Will and Jessie and Lana Jenkins and Ron Hall and Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan.

The Islanders learned the public had been voting, as a text messages informed them: "Islanders, you voted Jessie and Will, Sanam and Kai and Lana and Ron as the least compatible couples.

"They are all vulnerable and at risk of being dumped from the Island tonight, however only one couple will go home and that decision is in the hands of the public."

Tanya Manhenga and Shaw Muhammad, Tom Clare and Samie Elis were confirmed as finalists along with Lana and Ron and Kai and Sanam at the end of the episode.

The dumping came after the couples got to meet each others families.

Samie’s mum Wendy and sister Courtney headed into the South African villa alongside Tom’s mum Maxine and sister Laura.

As Tom caught up with his family, his sister Laura said “She’s unbelievable, you make such a good couple, how affectionate you are with each other, you’re always looking for each other, it’s just so nice to see. I think she’s the one for you."

Samie asked her mum and sister: ‘“Do you like him?”

Samie’s mum replies: “He’s so lovely, he absolutely adores you Samie and you really like him don’t you? I’ve never seen you like this, ever.”

As both families came together for the first time, they discussed the villa talent show and Samie’s mum said: “Can I just say, the singing, we’re going to karaoke… because I can’t sing either".
